Pleiades details

RegiStar Details
Full image

This composite image of the Pleiades star cluster was formed by combining 2 black-and-white photos with a colour photo. All photos were taken by Rajiv Gupta using a refractor. The black-and-white images were, respectively, 60- and 110-minute unfiltered and cyan-filtered exposures. The cyan exposure captured the faint blue reflection nebulosity. The 3 images were aligned by RegiStar, and then a composite image was created using the Lab color model in Adobe Photoshop.

Click here for a description of how the RegiStar/Photoshop Lab technique was used to form a composite image of the Pelican Nebula, and here to see how this method was used for an image of the faint nebula IC 1396.
